TJ Admissions Prep Class
Changes Coming to the TJ Test.
TJHSST announced Friday, March 17th, 2017 that it is changing the test and the test date for the TJ admissions test. Read about it here.
Inspiring’s TJ Admissions Prep course will adapt and reflect those changes.
“A combination of two different tests—the ACT Aspire and Quant Q—were selected to replace the old test. The ACT Aspire test will test reading and science skills, and the Quant Q will test math skills.
These tests replace the previous exam and will be administered on November 18, 2017. No other changes will be made to the TJHSST admissions process. Additional information about semifinalist determination will be released by May 1, 2017.”
We will emphasize math, science skills, verbal, essay, SIS, and admissions counseling in that order. The amount of time spent in each area depends on the needs of the group – hence the importance of the mini-math pre-test. Our practice tests will reflect the expected changes in the test.
TJ Admissions Prep Class – October 2017
This TJ test preparation class consists of 12 meetings: 6 testing sessions and 6 instructional classes. Classes size is limited to 12 students grouped by beginning math scores.
The initial class assignment will be based on the mini-math diagnostic test that is taken at home before the first class meeting. It is important that the test is strictly timed so the student is assigned to the class that best suits him (or her). If the results vary greatly from the group, Kate vanSchaick Dalby will discuss the matter before final class placement.
Classes will be held for six weekends starting Saturday and Sunday, October 7 and 8 and ending Sunday, November 12. The actual TJ test is scheduled for Saturday, November 18.
Registration requires an hour long mini-math test, which is given at home.

Meeting Dates & Times
All Sunday classes are filled but we have opened up the following:
Either any of six Tuesdays, starting October 10 from 6:45-8:45pm or six Wednesdays, starting October 11 from 6:45 – 8:45pm (Tues/Wed is the same each week so don’t book both in the same week). This is a new offering with a twist. The student can come to any class he/she wants and pay individually ($180 each) for the class/test pair. The student will need to take the test the weekend immediately before the class, either Saturday at 10:00am or 2pm or Sunday at 10:30 am. (separate sign up). Consult with Kate at 703-203-5796 before signing up. We reserve the right to cancel a class session due to insufficient enrollment.
There are three different times for testing: Saturdays at 10:00am and 2:00pm, or Sundays at 10:30 am (only for Tuesday/Wednesday classes.
